I am an assistant professor of philosophy and classical studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Previously, I was an assistant professor of philosophy at Northwestern University.
I specialize in ancient Greek philosophy, especially ancient ethics, politics, and epistemology. My current research project focuses on wisdom in Plato and Aristotle: what wisdom consists in, what sets this virtue apart from other intellectual abilities, what it enables and obligates wise people to do, and what role wisdom plays in ethics and politics. A central part of this project is a monograph on wisdom in Plato’s Republic.
I have also written about Aristotle’s theory of justice and Plato’s myth in the Statesman, and I have papers in progress on Pyrrhonian skepticism and Aristotelian wisdom. Outside of ancient philosophy, I’m especially interested in social philosophy and Chinese philosophy.
I completed my Ph.D. at Princeton University (2021) and my B.A. at Wellesley College (2016).
